TTNG certainly did not disappoint with their debut LP Animals last year and now they have released two of the better tracks from that album, remodelled into ethereal acoustic numbers for our delectation. These versions of “Panda” and “Baboon” feature alongside tracks by Yonderboy, Peasman, Ora Cogan and Fortywatts on a podcast released by Leeds based ezine Tapes and were recorded recently when the band were touring with Joan Of Arc. In acoustic form you can even further appreciate the beyond intricate riffs of Mr Tim Collis.

Maths – Descent

Maths are a band i have a lot of time for. They are, along with a few other select bands, carrying the (sadly limp) British screamo scene forwards into the realms of European standards. I have been listening to this band since their first tour CD release and their 6 song demo with song names borne out of Nietzsche verse. Their record company Holy Roar has been responsible for some of the biggest UK bands in punk territory, such as Gallows and Rolo Tomassi and Maths have only added more credibility to HR’s rostrum. Descent is crafted from sincerity and passion and is what i would describe as an intricate tapestry of an LP. Every jolted melody and fervent scream seems to weave around an ever-present thread which binds the record together. It is obvious that the band have put an awful lot of intelligence and attention into shaping this record into a sonic epic and they have pulled it off with great aplomb.
